Major milestone for NFF Farm Data Code

It’s a year since we celebrated the universal farm data dashboard, Pairtree Plus, becoming the first service in Australia to be officially Farm Data Code certified by the National Farmers Federation.

The NFF Farm Data Code aims to promote the adoption of digital technology, by ensuring farmers feel comfortable and understand how their data is used, managed and shared.

“Farmers are rightly worried about how their farm data might be used by unscrupulous third parties”, said Pairtree CEO, Hamish Munro. “When we signed up to the Code, it was so that farmers could see the NFF badge and know that we can be trusted.”

Pairtree Plus is a service that allows farmers and agronomists to view all of the data relevant to their operation in one place, by integrating data from different sources and centralising it to be viewed and analysed together.

Pairtree also makes it possible for farmers to share that same data with third parties if they choose, in a safe way while maintaining full ownership and control.

“There are loads of benefits for farmers to share their data with the right people. We work with plenty of companies and researchers who rely on data from farms to develop their products and services to be more efficient and sustainable,” said Hamish.

“An unexpected bonus for us that’s come with the NFF Data Code badge is that other companies feel more comfortable working with us too, because they know how seriously we take the issue of data safety, and they know how important that is for their customers.”

Pairtree is currently collaborating with the Commonwealth Bank to explore how farmers can safely share farm data to improve the customer experience.

They also works closely with leading global agriculture company, Syngenta, to find new ways to work with farmers and allow them to connect and share disparate data specific to their operation, enabling them to make informed decisions that positively impact crop yields and resource utilisation.

“With the combination of Syngenta’s deep agricultural expertise and Pairtree’s innovative data solutions, we are poised to revolutionise how farmers approach precision agriculture,” said Brett Hofman, Head of Business Development, Syngenta Australia.

Whether you like it or not, greater compliance and reporting of farm activities is the way of the future – whether it’s mandatory or financial reporting or providing artificial intelligence algorithms with the information needed to calculate recommendations for your specific operation.

Now is the time to take control of how you collect, use, store and share your data, so keep your eye out for the NFF Farm Data Code badge when choosing technology suppliers.
